Who We Represent

The New York State University Police is the law enforcement agency of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, responsible for ensuring safety within the campus community. Approximately 500 uniformed officers, investigators and supervisors serve the 29 state college and university campuses throughout the state.

The New York state Park Police provide essential police services to ensure safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities for New York State residents and visitors. Park Police assist park users, make arrests, conduct criminal and non-criminal investigations, and provide emergency services. They also provide special services including marine law enforcement and education duties on New York waterways, snowmobile enforcement and education and rope rescue teams.

New York State Forest Rangers protect the state’s forests, wildlands and wildernesses, serving as police officers, firefighters and first responders for 6 million acres of public lands and easements. The New York State Forest Ranger force consists of 125 forest rangers, lieutenants, captains and directors across the state, with the greatest numbers in the Adirondack and Catskill-area Parks.

New York State Environmental Conservation Officers (ECOs) conserve and protect New York’s natural resources and environment, enhancing the health, safety and welfare of the public, native plants and overall environment. ECOs enforce all statutes dealing with hunting and game harvesting, pollution, proper waste disposal, protected lands and resources, ensuring a fair and prosperous environmental standing for the state of New York.

RETIREE CHAPTER
PBA of New York State Retiree Chapter membership is open to any retired officer of the NYSDEC Environmental Conservation Police, Forest Rangers, New York State Park Police or New York State University Police. Our leadership lobbies state agencies, legislators and the executive branch on behalf of retirees, in partnership with other retired police officers and municipal firefighters. We work together to protect and improve benefits for our retirees.
