STATEMENT ON DEC COMISSIONER BASIL SEGGOS DEPARTURE
Thursday, November 08, 2018
FROM PBA SECRETARY & FOREST RANGERS SUPERIOR OFFICERS DIRECTOR DREW CAVANAGH
New York is a national leader in environmental conservation through the promotion of clean energy initiatives and efforts to keep our natural resources safe.
For more than three years, Commissioner Basil Seggos has led those efforts – working to ensure the next generation of New Yorkers have better, healthier and more sustainable communities than we have today. During his tenure, Commissioner Seggos worked to fight the spread of harmful algal blooms in our lakes, improve the drinking and wastewater infrastructure, promote the use of zero-emission vehicles, and expand artificial reefs for the betterment of New York’s diverse marine habitats.
We are not only grateful for Commissioner Seggos’ dedication to the people of New York on the environmental front, but we thank him for his service with the U.S. Army Reserve.
We wish him well in his next endeavor and look forward to working with the next Commissioner to continue building on the Department of Environmental Conservation’s legacy as a premier state agency for years to come.
