Friday, July 05, 2013

Beginning on Friday June 28th, much of the Mohawk valley has been deluged by a series of powerful rainstorms that have caused localized flooding to the same levels seen during Hurricane’s Irene, Sandy, and Tropical Storm Lee.

Forest Rangers and Environmental Conservation Officers with the Department of Environmental Conservation have been at the forefront of the State’s rescue and emergency response efforts.  In conjunction with the State Office of Emergency Management, the State Police, and many other state and local organizations, Forest Rangers and ECOs have been manning the Herkimer County Emergency Operations Center directing and carrying out search, rescue, and recovery operations.
