Fire Damages Historic Structure at Old Fort Niagara

YOUNGSTOWN, NY - The roof of the Gate of the Five Nations, one of the historic buildings at Old Fort Niagara and the main entrance to the park, was damaged by a fire Saturday around 11 p.m.

Lieutenant Clyde Doty of the New York State Park Police told 2 On Your Side that it appears a fireplace in an adjacent building, called the south redoubt, may be to blame.

Authorities at plane crash site look for body

 — Authorities searched a small reservoir today for the pilot in Friday’s deadly plane crash in the town of Ephratah, but a body was not recovered by 9 p.m..

Two bodies were recovered Friday evening, but their identities have not been released. The missing pilot is believed to be dead.

According to the Facebook page of the Rockwood - Garoga - Lassellsville Volunteer Fire Company, the search for the pilot will continue on Sunday.

LAKE PLACID - The New York Bicycling Coalition will recognize Plattsburgh State University police officer Robert Light as the recipient of the 2013 Law Enforcement Bicycling Champion award.

Light will receive the award at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lake Placid Elementary School as part of the Fun on Wheels event, during which cyclists ride to elementary schools in Essex and Clinton counties to distribute and fit helmets for second- and third-grade students.
