Lt. McCartney has been with the New York State University Police for 26 years. Prior to joining NYSUP in 1999, Lt. McCartney was a deputy sheriff in Savannah, Georgia. In 1996 he worked the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. In 2015 he became a Lieutenant and is currently supervising University Police Officers at SUNY Morrisville.
