UAlbany Police Department, state PBA at odds over reporting of crimes on campus

A rift between UAlbany's University Police Department and the state's Police Benevolent Association is still ongoing. In March, the PBA filed a complaint with the Department of Education over the manner and timeliness of the department's action in reporting on campus crimes.

A six-hour delay, an eight-hour delay, and a three-and-a-half-day delay - these are the timeliness issues the PBA cites in a letter to the Department of Education regarding UPD reports.

PBA continues to expose University at Albany’s failure to disseminate information on violent crimes

The Albany Student Press (“The Asp”), which is the student newspaper at the University at Albany recently reported on the PBA of NYS’ assertions that the University at Albany Police Department is effectively mismanaged and engages in withholding of information to the public about violent crimes.
