Pressure Grows on Cuomo to Hire More Adirondack Forest Rangers

The fall foliage in the Adirondack Mountains is radiant right now.  That means more visitors flocking to trails and campgrounds.  There’s a growing call for the Cuomo administration to hire more forest rangers to help manage the growing number of hikers and to help keep people safe in the back country.  State officials are pushing back, arguing that there are already enough boots on the ground to get the job done.

Last week, Environment Commissioner Basil Seggos traveled to the Adirondacks for a ribbon cutting ceremony at a new campground. He wound up getting an earful about something else: forest rangers.
