Friday, July 15, 2011
July 15, 2011: Late this afternoon, officials with New York State Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) notified the Police Benevolent Association of New York State (PBA of New York State), that it was in receipt of correspondence from the New York State Law Enforcement Officer Union, Council 82, advising that after careful consideration, it was disclaiming and relinquishing its representation interest in the Agency Law Enforcement Services (ALES) unit. View this letter here. At this time, significant transitional, operational, and electoral details remain, and the PBA of New York State leadership and legal representatives will be working tonight and this weekend in an effort to expedite information to share with ALES members as soon as it becomes available. Manny Vilar, President of the PBA of New York State said, “Representing more than 1100 men and women that work as University, Environmental Conservation, and Park Police; and State Forest Rangers is an extraordinary responsibility. I am committed to working with state officials to ensure a timely certification; and cooperatively and collegially with Council 82 to proceed with an orderly and efficient transition that provides ALES members with the support and representation they deserve.”
