Congratulations ECO Wood on being selected as the New York State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation’s 2012 ECO of the Year!

Officer Wood joins a select list of past recipients who exemplify the dedication, enthusiasm and professionalism of the ranks of ECO’s across New York State and we are proud of him to have received this recognition.

ECO Ricky Wood apprehended two subjects for poaching 2 deer last January.  ECO Wood found a stack of flyers in the vehicle used describing a venison dinner in NYC.  The flyer advertised that there was a fee of $70 a plate. (it is illegal to charge a fee for these types of events)  ECO Wood obtained a search warrant for the individuals residence and 320 pounds of additional venison to be used for this dinner was seized from freezers in the basement.  It is estimated that 10 deer in all were taken illegally.  The subject paid $8,000 in penalties and his license will be revoked.
