PBA Board of Directors member Brian Gillis has Op-Ed printed in today’s New York Daily News

Monday, April 07, 2014

April 7, 2014 – PBA Director of Environmental Conservation Police Officers Brian Gillis wrote an op-ed commentary that is printed in today’s New York Daily News.   Gillis alerts readers that the black market’s incessant demand for ivory, much of which is illegally sold in New York City, perpetuates the senseless slaughter of thousands of African elephants who are killed for their tusks.  Gillis advocates for passage of a bill now pending in the State Legislature which will increase penalties for illegal ivory sales, and he also argues in support of increased hiring of Environmental Conservation Police Officers to enforce these new laws.  Read the op-ed piece here, or to see it in print, buy a copy of the April 7th edition of the NY Daily News, which is sold not just downstate but at many upstate retail establishments.
